A handcrafted - sustainable approach.
We believe strongly that the pursuit of high performance has to start by using the highest quality materials.
A no compromise approach, building equipment which can stand the test of time in terms of durability and sustained performance.
CONSTRUCTION
DESIGN
Our designs express the type of skiing we love, both in style and performance - the connection to the natural environment is reflected in the materials used.
The minimal graphics give space to the beauty and warmth of the natural bamboo top sheet which itself is a reflection of the skis core - the key to the PFD skiability: lively and playful but incredibly stable at speed. Hard charging.
We continue to refine our designs away from the mass market norms, creating amazing skis in limited production runs without the pressure to redesign a new top-sheet for each season.
PFD creates timeless designs.
MATERIALS
Our aim is for you to become one with your skis over time. Built from the highest quality materials and designed to last for many seasons of hard charging.
The natural bamboo core makes up 70% of the skis total construction, mixed with a carbon and flax fibre weave to create the performance characteristics which are unique to PFD.
Our base and edge materials are sourced extra thick, specifically chosen to tackle the harsh demands of the freeride environment.
Our bamboo top-sheet wears over time showing signs from past adventures.
BUILD PROCESS
Without any compromise, our ski building process has many different steps in order to create the final product. Once we press our unique lay-up of 8 different materials a large amount of work goes into shaping and finally finishing the skis with multiple layers of varnish.
Building skis in the way we have chosen is a labour of love. Our working environment is important to create the right surroundings, both to build and design our products.
The PFD workshop is a purpose built low impact environment where we handcraft all of our skis and boards. Hidden away in the calm countryside, it’s a creative environment which we love to work in.
